How Often Should You Get Your Car Detailed?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer — how often you should detail depends on how you use your vehicle, where you park, and what protection you have on your paint.

Without Ceramic Coating: Every 3–4 Months

For unprotected vehicles in Kansas City, a full detail every 3–4 months is ideal. This is especially important because:

  • Kansas City winters deposit road salt that etches paint over time
  • Spring pollen and summer UV are hard on unprotected clear coat
  • Fall leaves leave acidic deposits that stain if left too long

With Ceramic Coating: Every 6–12 Months

Ceramic coated vehicles need detailing far less often. The hydrophobic surface repels most contamination and makes washing easier. A full detail once or twice a year — plus our included annual checkup — keeps everything in top shape.

Exterior vs Interior: Different Schedules

  • Exterior wash: Every 2–4 weeks (you can do this yourself with proper technique)
  • Full exterior detail: Every 3–6 months depending on condition
  • Interior detail: Every 3–4 months for daily drivers; 6 months for low-use vehicles
  • Full detail (interior + exterior): Every 3–4 months without coating, 6–12 months with coating

Signs You Need a Detail Now

  • Water no longer beads on your paint
  • Paint looks dull or hazy in sunlight
  • Interior smells musty or has visible dirt/stains
  • Bird droppings have left etching in the paint
  • Your glass has a film that doesn’t come off with normal cleaning

The Easiest Solution: Set a Reminder

Most of our regular customers book quarterly — once every 3 months. We keep your vehicle’s history on file and can advise on what’s needed each visit. Text or call (816) 863-3064 to get on the schedule.
